The CBC FIFA World Cup app has surpassed one million downloads, as Canadians seem keen on watching the action from Brazil on the go.
The free iOS and Android apps, in English and French, offer live streaming of each match, including a special feature that allows viewers to choose from six different camera angles.
The statistical analysis feature and on-demand video clips have made the app one of the most popular products in the Apple and Google stores. Game Connect, the second-screen experience available exclusively on the app, is also a popular feature with fans looking to engage while watching the matches.
Since the tournament began, Canadian fans have spent more than 10 million hours watching CBC/Radio-Canada’s World Cup video content across all digital platforms.
To date, more than 30 million Canadians have tuned in to watch the Brazil 2014 coverage on CBC/Radio-Canada overall, including more than 5.8 million people watching live game coverage on a digital platform.
