Augsburg notched its first Bundesliga victory of the season and moved off the bottom of the standings with a 3-1 win over Werder Bremen on Friday.

The hosts struck early when Tobias Werner headed home from five meters (yards) off a cross from Paul Verhaegh in the second minute.

Kevin de Bruyne equalized for Bremen in the 19th with a free kick from some 40 metres out.

But Augsburg regained the lead for good in the 32nd when Stephan Hain latched onto a pass from Knowledge Musone to score from close range.

Daniel Baier's free kick in the 73rd secured the win and handed Bremen its fourth loss of the season.
