Former snowboard world champion Heidi Neururer of Austria says Sunday's World Cup parallel giant slalom in Arosa, Switzerland, will be her last race.
In a statement from the Austrian ski federation, the 34-year-old Neururer says she's retiring one year before the Sochi Winter Olympics because "the past two seasons have not been what I hoped for. I am now lacking the mental strength to keep fighting."
After Arosa, there are still two more parallel giant slaloms this season but Neururer says she wants to end her career in the Swiss resort where she won the PGS world title in 2007, two years after earning silver at the worlds in Whistler, Canada.
Neururer has won four World Cups and finished second in the 2006-07 overall standings.
