Martin Gerber – Goaltender, Ottawa Senators

One of the league's top goaltenders in 2005-06, Martin Gerber caught the flu and had to watch from the bench as rookie Cam Ward led the Carolina Hurricanes to the Stanley Cup and the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP.

That was then and this is now. The Swiss-born, technically-sound netminder has something to prove in Ottawa after being deemed expendable due to Ward's heroics.

In Ottawa, Gerber will replace the enigmatic Dominik Hasek, who left for Detroit in the off-season. He'll also be reunited with former Anaheim general manager Bryan Murray, now the coach of the Sens. Gerber broke into the NHL with the Ducks in 2002-03.

Gerber, known as a team player, has always wanted to tend net for a Canadian club. He'll help provide a steady 1-2 tandem in goal with Ray Emery, who is coming off a solid rookie season.
