Guillaume Ouellet produced a breakthrough season in 2015 with the gold medal in the 1500-metre event at the Toronto 2015 Parapan American Games and victory in the 5000 at the IPC World Championships.

The visually impaired runner (who has enough vision to run without a guide) also gained valuable experience at the 2013 IPC World Championships with a fourth place in the 1500 final.

Ouellet has retinitis pigmentosa, which has left him with a field of vision of about 10 degrees.
