Ireen Wust is closing in another speed skating title, after taking a commanding lead in the world allround championships after the first two races in Heerenveen, Netherlands.
Wust, who claimed two gold medals and three silvers at the Sochi Olympics, won both the 500-metre and 3,000-metre races on Saturday to open up a big lead over Yuliya Skokova and Olga Graf of Russia.
On Sunday, Wust has to skate the 1,500 - one of her favourite distances, and the 5,000. She won silver medals in both distances in Sochi.
In the men's competition, Koen Verweij of the Netherlands came second in both the 500 and 5,000 races to take the overall lead, narrowly ahead of countryman Jan Blokhuijsen. Havard Bokko of Norway was third.
