Canada's Baptiste Brochu wins 1st snowboard cross gold in Switzerland

Canada's Baptiste Brochu will come home with a gold medal after beating snowboard cross World Cup leader and Olympic champion Pierre Vaultier in Switzerland on Saturday.

It also marked the Saguenay, Que., athlete's very first World Cup victory.

Vaultier, of France, took silver while Austria's Alessandro Haemmerle rounded out the podium.

Brochu's teammates Kevin Hill and Christopher Robanske finished 10th and 25th, respectively.
