Michael Walchhofer could miss this weekend's World Cup speed races after injuring his throat during super-G training on Wednesday.
Austrian team doctor Herbert Resch told the Austria Press Agency that Walchhofer straddled a gate, which then hit his throat.
According to Resch, the Austrian struggled with speaking and complained about pain while swallowing. However, tests in a hospital in nearby Sankt Johann showed that no special treatment was needed.
Resch says "we'll do a breathing test before Thursday's downhill training. If that goes well, there is no medical reason for Michael not to start."
