CBC Sports unveiled its broadcast schedule for the 2008-09 figure skating season on Friday.

The network will provide more than 400 hours of live coverage across several media platforms, including on CBCSports.ca and CBC Bold, the network's digital channel.

Viewers will be able to watch several big events, including all of the ISU Grand Prix Series competitions, the Canadian figure skating championships, the ISU Four Continents and the ISU world figure skating championships.

Scott Moore, executive director of CBC Sports, said Skate Canada was instrumental in acquiring the rights to the Grand Prix events outside of Canada for broadcast purposes on CBC.

"Skate Canada worked hard to ensure there is television coverage of these world-class events," Moore said. "Our partnership with them has been great, and Skate Canada has assured comprehensive coverage of crucial figure skating events leading up to the Vancouver Olympics."

Scott Russell, host of CBC Sports Weekend, will host all figure skating broadcasts on CBC broadcasts, alongside Canadian figure skating legends and analysts Tracy Wilson and Kurt Browning.

Brenda Irving will co-host and report from rinkside while P.J. Kwong assumes the role of figure skating commentator on Bold.

The first event on CBC's schedule is Skate America, the first event of the ISU Grand Prix Series, on Oct. 24.
