Rob Fowler roared into the quarter-finals of the National Grand Slam of Curling with a perfect run through the round robin.
The Brandon, Man., native finished with a 5-0 record after beating Glenn Howard of Coldwater, Ont., 7-2 in six ends Friday to knock out the world champion.
Both rinks shook hands after Fowler scored three in the fourth end and three more in the sixth.
Fowler will meet Kevin Koe on Saturday. Koe advanced with a 3-2 record despite losing to fellow Edmonton skip Kevin Martin 6-3 in Draw 9.
Martin also finished the round robin undefeated. He'll play the winner of a tiebreaker between Brad Gushue of St. John's, N.L., and Saskatoon's Steve Laycock.
The other quarter-finals will feature Sweden's Niklas Edin against Winnipeg's Mike McEwen, and Brad Jacobs of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., facing Winnipeg's Jeff Stoughton.
In other Draw 9 results, McEwen hammered Switzerland's Peter De Cruz 9-3 in six ends, Toronto's Greg Balsdon edged Sven Michel of Switzerland 8-6 and Stoughton defeated Jim Cotter of Kelowna, B.C., 7-4.
