Canadians Fraser Berkhout and Mike Wilkinson qualified for the semifinal in men's double sculls in Tuesday's action at the rowing world championships in Slovenia.
Berkhout, from St. Catharines, Ont., and Wilkinson, from North Vancouver, B.C., finished second in Tuesday's repechage in six minutes 17.53 seconds and moved on to the semifinal.
France won the repechage in 6:14.16 and also advanced.
"Everyone was in a race for their lives today," Berkhout said. "We pulled through with a solid race and are looking forward to the semifinal."
The Canadian lightweight men's four narrowly missed out on a semifinal berth after finishing third in the repechage in 5:57.75.
South Africa (5:56.08) and Serbia (5:57.39) took the two semifinal spots up for grabs.
The Canadian women's double sculls also missed out on the semis after finishing third in the repechage in 7:04.75
The Czech Republic (6:57.27) and Finland (6:58.20) advanced.
