Jennifer Abel, Pamela Ware earn World Cup diving silver

Canada's Jennifer Abel and Pamela Ware opened the medals for Canada over the weekend with a silver in women's three-metre synchro at a FINA diving World Cup event in Rio de Janeiro.

Canada's Jennifer Abel and Pamela Ware opened the medals for Canada over the weekend with a silver in women's three-metre synchro at a FINA diving World Cup event in Rio de Janeiro.

The duo won their silver Satuday night behind China's Shi Tingmao and Wu Winxia, who nearly swept the event, scoring the highest in all but their first atttempt.

Australia's Samantha Amy Mills and Esther Qin were third.

Other Canadian results from the competition include a sixth-place finish by Roseline Filion on Sunday in the women's 10-metre platform. Ren Qian and Si Yajie of China won gold and silver with Australia's Melissa Wu rounding out the podium.

In the men's 10m synchro, Philippe Gagne and Vincent Riendeau finished seventh. Chinese, German and Great Britain pairs won gold, silver and bronze, respectively.

The diving continues through Wednesday. It can be watched live on CBCSports.ca Monday at 1:55 p.m. ET.
