German cyclist Patrick Sinkewitz has confirmed that his B sample tested positive for the human growth hormone.
Sinkewitz tells German newspaper Sueddeutsche Zeitung that "unfortunately it's true and I know that no one believes me." Sinkewitz has denied doping but he faces a lifetime ban for his second offence. He is the first cyclist to test positive for HGH.
The German tested positive for testosterone in an out-of-competition test before the 2007 Tour de France.
He was banned for one year, half the usual suspension because he co-operated with German investigators and shared details about doping in cycling.
