It's one of the highest honours an athlete can receive: carrying his or her country's flag into the opening ceremony at an Olympic Games. With so many deserving Canadians up for the job in 2012, we wanted to know: who do you think should carry the Canadian flag in London on July 27?
Each day over the last few weeks, we’ve pitted two athletes against each other in our bracket-style tournament and asked you to vote on the winner. We received more than 138,000 votes, so thanks for taking part!
In the final, mountain biker Catharine Pendrel, who’d already pulled off three upsets to reach the final as the lowest women’s seed, took on triathlete Simon Whitfield, the No. 2 seed on the men’s side.
Voting is now closed. Canada has spoken, and Pendrel is the winner!
