    What is high definition television?


    High-definition television differs from conventional television in three fundamental ways:
    • Improved picture quality: For each pixel in conventional TV, HDTV has 4.5 pixels.
    • Wider aspect ratio (HDTV is 1/3 wider than conventional TV).
    • Dolby Surround Sound. HDTV supports both Dolby surround and standard stereo, the same as DVD.
