Crosby, Gill, Nash and Young?
Tongue-twisting trades and other hilarity

With the NHL trade deadline treated in some quarters with as much seriousness than a coroner's inquest, we thought it important to add some levity. On trade deadline day, these proposed deals would be guaranteed to give hockey announcers untold sleepless nights.
The obvious starting point would be the trade of Mats Sundin to Vancouver, to join Henrik and Daniel Sedin. The Canucks would then boast a line of "Sedin, Sedin and Sundin," much to Jim Hughson's chagrin.
Another obvious choice would be Carolina acquiring Jordan Staal from Pittsburgh to join his brother Eric, and then purloining Jarret Stoll from Edmonton. The Hurricanes could then toss out a line of "Staal, Staal and Stoll."
Buffalo could land Olli Jokinen from Florida and Jussi Jokinen from Dallas to join Jochen Hecht, giving them the line of "Jochen, Jokinen and Jokinen."
Ottawa could obtain Dwayne King from St. Louis and pair him with Mike Fisher to make the "Fisher King" line.
Philadelphia could try to pry Matt Cooke away from Vancouver and Jeff Friesen from Calgary to play with R.J. Umberger. Suddenly, the Flyers could satisfy their fans' appetite with a "Cooke, Friesen Umberger" entree.
Perhaps Phoenix could consider the acquisition of Blair Betts from the Rangers. On second thought, it would probably not be a good idea to have "Betts with Tocchet."
Of course, Pittsburgh could give Sidney Crosby more ammunition by adding Rick Nash from Columbus, defencemen Hal Gill from Toronto and Bryan Young from Edmonton. Then, the Penguins could entertain their fans with "Crosby, Gill, Nash and Young."
Chicago may entertain the thought of acquiring Brendan Witt to join Patrick Sharp for the stretch run, thus giving the Blackhawks "Sharp Witt" — always useful for dealing with playoff pressure.
The Rangers could add more grit by acquiring Jordan Tootoo from Nashville. With Fedor Tyutin on defence, the Blueshirts would then possess "Tyutin and Tootoo."
Or Tootoo could be dealt to Pittsburgh, which could then acquire Tuomo Ruutu to join his brother Jarkko. How's that for a pest line: "Ruutu, Ruutu and Tootoo"!
Boston could add Krys Beech from Pittsburgh to play with Jeremy Reich and Milan Lucic, giving them a line of "Lucic, Reich and Beech." Too much of a reach, you ask?
On defence, the Los Angeles Kings could peddle Lubomir Visnovsky to New Jersey to join Vitali Vishnevski. That would give the Devils the defensive tandem of "Visnovsky and Vishnevski." We'd pay to hear Don Cherry try and spit that one out!
A natural for the Blackhawks would be the acquisition of native son Andy Wozniewski to play defence with James Wisniewski to form the rearguard tandem of "Wisniewski and Wozniewski."
The New York Rangers are reportedly on the hunt for a defenceman, so would it not be a natural for Tampa to send Paul Ranger to the Rangers?
And finally, we think the Bruins should consider re-acquiring Colton Orr from the Rangers. For as any hockey fan knows, Orr should never have left Boston.
