A spectacle of grace and power
Homer considered the act of throwing a discus to be spectacle of great beauty, and so it remains today, notwithstanding the grunts and screams when the implement is released. Like all the throwing events, the discus combines raw power with technique and grace, the thrower performing something akin to a dance while spinning and charging the discus full of energy to send it spinning smoothly into its flight.

Men's
I'm really hoping Tunks can win a medal. He's ranked fifth in the world and
carrying a lot of confidence; he's in great shape and has been throwing
really well. But it's a really tough event ... He'll have to throw 68 metres
to reach podium, which he can do, but I can't see him beating Alekna. Alekna
is simply the best thrower out there.

Women's
Grasu has thrown over 68 metres, and Sedova from Russia is also very strong.
Those two will probably battle it out for the gold.
