in 1995, defended the title in 1997 and became the first man
to win three long jump world championships in 1999
Won 26 consecutive meets from 1995 to January 1996
Heavily favoured to win gold at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, but
wasn't in great form after injuring his right hamstring muscle
in March. Pedroso had not fully recovered by the Atlanta Games
and finished a distant 12th |
