Your View: Did the NHL do the right thing in suspending Avery?
The league slapped Dallas Stars forward Sean Avery with a six-game suspension without pay on Friday for comments he made earlier this week in Calgary.
Avery's suspension follows a three-hour hearing in New York on Thursday with commissioner Gary Bettman.
The Toronto-area native was suspended indefinitely on Tuesday for controversial remarks directed at Calgary defenceman Dion Phaneuf and his girlfriend, Canadian actress Elisha Cuthbert, who dated Avery at one time.
Avery has apologized and agreed to seek a professional anger management evaluation, and, if necessary, structured counselling in response to what the league says is a pattern of unacceptable and antisocial behaviour.
His suspension is retroactive from the two games he has already missed.
So what do you think? Did the NHL do the right thing in suspending Avery, or was the league too harsh? In addition, what should the Stars do with Avery once he returns?
