Former NHL netminder Ron Tugnutt has been hired as Hockey Canada's full-time goalie coach for the 2011-12 season.
In the move announced Wednesday, Tugnutt will scout and work with Canada's national men's teams.
The 43-year-old has worked part-time with Hockey Canada over the past two seasons, serving as a goaltending consultant at the last two world junior hockey championships.
Tugnutt will work as the goaltending coach for the 2012 tournament set for Calgary and Edmonton.
Tugnutt, who also served as Canada's goaltending consultant at the 2009 under-18 tournament, spent last season as the goalie coach for the Peterborough Petes of the Ontario Hockey League.
He spent 17 seasons in the NHL and represented Canada at the 1993 and 1999 world championships.
