New York Islanders right-winger Michael Grabner was named first star of the week Monday after leading all NHL players with eight goals and nine points last week.

Grabner posted a plus-7 rating as New York won three of four games last week.

Buffalo Sabres right-winger Drew Stafford was the second star and Phoenix Coyotes goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov was the third star.

Stafford had two hat-tricks to give him a league-leading four on the season. The Sabres earned five of a possible six points last week.

Bryzgalov began the week with his second consecutive shutout and then posted two more wins. He had a 1.29 goals-against average and .948 save percentage over the stretch.
