Cole is expected to miss two to three weeks with an upper-body injury, while Larose is expected to miss up to a month with a lower-body problem.
Cole has eight points (six goals), and LaRose has six points (one goal) for the Hurricanes, who entered Friday's action with the NHL's worst record by a wide margin at 7-18-5. Carolina's 19 points are eight fewer than 29th-place Toronto has.
To replace Cole and LaRose, the Hurricanes called up forwards Patrick Dwyer and Jiri Tlusty from their minor-league affiliate in Albany, N.Y.
Carolina acquired Tlusty last week from the Maple Leafs.
