Selanne, 39, is expected to be out no more than six weeks after suffering the injury in Thursday's 3-1 loss to the Dallas Stars.
The Finnish star bemoaned the injury after the game, saying he almost didn't suit up due to a flu bug. He missed 17 games last season due to a quad injury.
Selanne has 14 goals and seven assists in 27 games, the fifth season of his current stint with Anaheim. He also played for the Ducks between 1995-2001.
Selanne is the leading active NHL goal scorer, with 593. He has 1,233 points, behind only Mark Recchi (Boston) and Mike Modano (Dallas) among active players.
