Buffalo Sabres forward Patrick Kaleta has been suspended by the National Hockey League for two games, without pay, for a hit against Philadelphia Flyers forward Jared Ross on Friday afternoon.

The Sabres forward checked Ross from behind at 9:28 of the first period. He was assessed a major penalty for boarding on the play.

Kaleta will miss Saturday’s game against the Carolina Hurricanes and Monday’s game versus Toronto. He will be able to return Thursday against Montreal.

Under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement Kaleta will forfeit $5,414.50 in salary. The money goes to the Players Emergency Assistance Fund.
