Schenn, 18, signed a one-day amateur tryout deal with the Kings, and is expected to skate on L.A.'s second line.
The younger brother of Toronto defenceman Luke Schenn takes the roster spot of fellow teenaged forward Andrei Loktionov, who was placed on injured reserve after suffering an upper-body injury in his NHL debut on Wednesday night in Edmonton.
After the Kings selected him fifth overall in the NHL's June entry draft, Schenn was returned to Brandon of the Western Hockey League, where he leads the junior club with 39 points in 24 games.
Schenn will become the third youngest player to appear in a game for the Kings.
