Calgary Flames forward Curtis Glencross was suspended Monday by the NHL for three games for his hit on Chris Drury of the New York Rangers.

Glencross hit Drury away from the play in the New York end about a minute into Saturday's game at Pengrowth Saddledome, won 3-1 by the Flames. The Rangers captain had to be helped off the ice.

New York coach John Tortorella expressed anger there was no penalty call on the play.

After the game, Tortorella called it a concussion and expressed his unhappiness with the lack of a penalty call.

"It was a missed call, it should have been a major, they missed it," he told reporters.

Glencross has four goals and two assists over 15 games, his second season with Calgary.

He will forfeit close to $19,000 US in salary in addition to sitting for three games.

Out until the 17th

The Flames play three games on the road this week, beginning with Montreal on Tuesday.

Glencross will be eligible to return on Nov. 17 against Colorado.

It is not known how long Drury will be out of action. New York returns to action Thursday at Madison Square Garden against Atlanta.

The Rangers suffered an additional blow in the game, according to Larry Brooks of the New York Post.

The Post reported that forward Brandon Dubinsky has a cast on his right hand and will be out up to six weeks after taking a shot during the same contest.
