Canucks bring back Pettinger

Matt Pettinger played 20 regular season games for Vancouver in 2007-08, but failed to make the Canucks the following training camp. (Jimmy Jeong/Getty Images)The banged-up Vancouver Canucks acquired some forward help on Monday, announcing the signing of veteran Matt Pettinger.
Pettinger, 29, last played in the NHL with Tampa Bay, totalling eight goals and seven assists in 59 games for the Lightning during the 2008-09 season.
He spent the first part of this season with Vancouver's affiliate in the American Hockey League, the Manitoba Moose.
Pettinger played 20 games for the Canucks in 2007-08, after he came over from Washington at the trade deadline for Matt Cooke.
He couldn't crack Vancouver's lineup the following training camp, and when the Canucks recalled him from the AHL in October 2008, he was plucked off re-entry waivers by Tampa Bay.
The left wing, who was born in Edmonton and grew up in Victoria, has 64 goals and 56 assists in 413 career NHL games, to go along with 120 penalty minutes.
Vancouver has been hit by a spate of injuries across all forward lines. Daniel Sedin, Michael Grabner, Kyle Wellwood, Jannick Hansen, Pavol Demitra, Alex Bolduc and Ryan Johnson have all been injured this season.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
