The Florida Panthers have signed free-agent centre Dominic Moore to a one-year contract Monday.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Last season with the Toronto Maple Leafs and Buffalo Sabres, Moore scored 13 goals and 32 assists in 78 games

In a news release, Panthers general manager Randy Sexton called Moore a "smart, talented, hard-working player who adds further depth to our centre position."

The Thornhill, Ont., native was one of the more effective Toronto forwards but was dealt at the trade deadline when he couldn't come to terms with on a new contract with management.

Moore, 29, has also played with the New York Rangers, Pittsburgh and Minnesota in an NHL career that began in the 2003-04 season. He has 35 goals and 65 assists in 305 career games, with 200 penalty minutes.

Florida split a pair of games with Chicago in Finland to kick off its regular-season schedule on the weekend, and plays its first game back in North America on Friday in Carolina.
