Preissing, 30, had an arthroscopic procedure on his ailing right knee on Tuesday .
He posted three goals and four assists for seven points in 22 games with the Los Angeles Kings last season.
Colorado acquired him, defenceman Kyle Quincey and a fifth-round draft pick from Los Angeles for forward Ryan Smyth on July 4.
Preissing, a former Hobey Baker Award finalist at Colorado College, has compiled 31 goals and 131 points in 322 games over five NHL seasons with the San Jose Sharks, Ottawa Senators and Los Angeles Kings.
