Burish tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee when he went into the boards in the first period of Chicago's 3-0 pre-season loss in Minnesota on Sunday. He limped off the ice and didn't return.
"He will undergo a reconstruction as soon as possible and we anticipate a complete recovery," Blackhawks head physician Dr. Michael Terry said in a statement.
Burish, 26, set career highs with nine points and six goals in 66 games last season. The rugged winger also had 93 penalty minutes.
