(Francis Specker/Associated Press)Roberto Luongo stopped every shot he faced in his first pre-season game action and the new, fit versions of Steve Bernier and Kyle Wellwood made key contributions in a 3-0 Vancouver road win over Anaheim on Thursday.

Bernier, Kevin Bieksa and Aaron Rome scored for the Canucks at the Honda Center, while Kyle Wellwood assisted on the first two goals.

Luongo made 19 saves overall in two periods of play.

Cory Schneider picked it up the rest of the way, with a Todd Marchant penalty shot in the third among his nine saves.

Vancouver had Manitoba Moose coach Scott Arniel behind the bench gauging players, some of whom will ultimately be sent down to the American Hockey League affiliate.

Bernier followed up his own spade work behind the Anaheim net to open the scoring, coming out front to take a Evan Oberg shot that had caromed off Wellwood. Bernier put it past Ducks goalie Jean-Francois Giguere at the 7:09 mark.

Both Bernier and Wellwood have drawn attention in training camp for their apparent commitment to off-season training, something that was lacking this time last year.

Bernier appeared to have another goal later in the period, but he was ruled to have kicked the puck past Giguere.

Pre-season contests are often filled with fights between players desperate to make the squad.

Not so to start this game, with key players Ryan Kesler and Corey Perry dropping the gloves in what turned into more of a wrestling match.

Alex Bolduc, Tanner Glass and Nathan McIver followed Kesler later in the game as Vancouver combatants in a four-fight night.

Perry and Glass each finished with 17 penalty minutes on the night.

Bieksa made it a two-goal lead midway through the game on the power play when his shot from the point went through traffic and past a screened Giguere.

Vancouver took advantage of an odd-man rush eight minutes later, with defenceman Rome pinching at the side of the net to tap in Mason Raymond's pass behind new Ducks goalie Justin Pogge.

Rome, a former Columbus Blue Jackets defenceman trying to find a spot in a crowded rearguard pool, led all skaters with six shots on net.

Pogge was again hung out to dry by his defence seconds later, but came up with a big save on Mikael Samuelsson, who had also assisted on the Rome goal.

Canucks defender Evan Oberg, who assisted on the Bernier goal, was cited for tripping Marchant on a break.

Schneider bailed out his teammate on the ensuing a penalty shot, a fairly uninspired effort from the veteran Ducks forward.

The Canucks are now 2-0 in pre-season action. They will play in San Jose on Friday.
