The Phoenix Coyotes will have more experience on their roster next season, thanks to a one-year, $2.25-million US contract signed Thursday with Adrian Aucoin.

Coyotes general manager Don Maloney called Aucoin an "intelligent, puck-moving defenseman who will help improv our power play and bring leadership to our locker room."

Details of the contract have not yet been released.

Phoenix will be the sixth NHL team for the defenceman.

In 851 career NHL games, he has scored 108 goals and collected 336 points.

He spent the last two seasons with the Calgary Flames, recording 10 goals and 34 points in 81 games last year.
