Komisarek is set to become an unrestricted free agent when the NHL's signing period opens on Wednesday at noon ET.
"Should they desire, we intend to keep Montreal involved in the process, as they have treated Mike so well during his time in the organization," Massachusetts-based agent Matt Keator said in a statement. "He remains interested in re-signing with them."
Komisarek, 27, figures to be one of the most coveted defenceman available in free agency.
Last season, the hard-nosed native of West Islip, N.Y., led the Canadiens in both hits (191) and blocked shots (207) for the second straight time, though his totals in those categories dipped as he missed 16 games with a hand injury.
Komisarek has spent his entire career with the Canadiens after being drafted seventh overall in 2001.
Habs GM Bob Gainey faces plenty of uncertainty on the eve of July 1, with a whopping 10 regulars set to become unrestricted free agents.
In addition to Komisarek, there are fellow defencemen Mathieu Schnieder, Patrice Brisebois, Francis Bouillon and Mathieu Dandenault, and forwards Alex Kovalev, Saku Koivu, Alex Tanguay, Robert Lang and Tom Kostopoulos.
