(Paul Sancya/Associated Press)Detroit Red Wings star Henrik Zetterberg is the latest player from his team to suggest Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby snubbed teammate Nicklas Lidstrom in the aftermath of Game 7 of the Stanley Cup final.
Zetterberg on Monday took umbrage with Crosby not coming over to shake hands with counterpart Lidstrom after Pittsburgh wrested the Cup from Detroit. Crosby eventually made it over, but by that time several Red Wings had left the ice.
"I think that's one thing you should do," said Zetterberg as the players cleaned out their lockers at Joe Louis Arena. "I don't know why he didn't do it; it's disrespectful."
Detroit forward Kris Draper earlier said it was "ridiculous" Crosby dallied and left Lidstrom waiting at centre ice.
The venerable Detroit captain was a bit more understanding than his two teammates.
"Sidney was probably caught up in the emotions and everything," said Lidstrom.
Crosby on Sunday said he didn't realize the Red Wings were leaving the ice and said he didn't intend to omit any of his opponents in the traditional handshake procession.
