Veteran forward Marty Reasoner signed a new two-year deal with the Atlanta Thrashers, the club announced on Monday.

Reasoner scored 14 goals and 16 assists in 79 games with Atlanta. He had one goal and five assists while the team was short-handed and added two game-winning scores.

"He's a very smart player," general manager Don Waddell told the team's website. "We can play him in all situations. He's very smart defensively and he's an excellent penalty-killer. Even though our penalty-killing as a team wasn't great, if you look at his stats he's one guy who did a really good job when he was on the ice."

The 32-year-old was selected 14th overall in the 1996 NHL entry draft by the St. Louis Blues. He has also played for Boston and Edmonton in his career, compiling 78 goals and 128 assists in 544 games.
