Marco Cousineau made 45 saves and sniper Yannick Riendeau scored twice as the Drummondville Voltigeurs held off the Shawinigan Cataractes in the seventh game of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League final.

Mike Hoffman scored an added an assist for Drummondville, which advances to the Memorial Cup in Rimouski, Que., later in the week.

Riendeau now has 29 goals and 22 assists in 19 playoff games. The small forward went undrafted, but was recently signed to a free agent contract by the Boston Bruins.

Drummondville won the opening game of the series, which was their 20th consecutive victory, but the Cataractes gave them trouble all season.

The Voltigeurs have lost just 18 games overall since the beginning of the season, half of them to Shawinigan.

Riendeau and Hoffman — with his 21st of the playoffs — scored within five minutes of each other in the first to put Drummondville in command.

The Voltigeurs scored the first goal of the game in each of the seven games.

Riendeau's second goal was sandwiched by Shawinigan scores from Matthew Pistilli and Alex Grant.

Pistilli's goal at 5:11 of the second period, with the goalies taking over from there.

Gabriel Girard finished with 24 saves for Shawinigan, but he was overshadowed by Cousineau, who faced 30 shots over the final two periods.

The Memorial Cup begins on Friday, with a Canadian champion crowned on May 24. Drummondville and host Rimouski will be joined by Western Hockey League winners the Kelowna Rockets and the Windsor Spitfires, who prevailed in the Ontario Hockey League playoffs.
