Canada won last year's world junior championship, held in Ottawa. (Tom Hanson/Canadian Press)Canada was awarded seven more international hockey tournaments on Sunday, as the International Ice Hockey Federation gave the country rights to four more world junior championships and three more world women's championships.
The decision was made at the IIHF annual congress during the world hockey championships.
Canada is already hosting next year's world junior hockey championship in Regina and Saskatoon and again in 2012, with Calgary and Edmonton acting as host cities.
Now Canada will add the 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2021 world juniors to the list, along with the 2013, 2016, and 2020 women's worlds.
The 2009 world junior championships were held in Ottawa. Winnipeg and Selkirk, Man., were the last Canadian hosts of the women's tourney, back in 2007.
The deal includes a profit-sharing program to grow the game internationally.
Hockey Canada will announce bidding details at a later date.
