The Calgary Flames fan arrested for making threats against Columbus Blue Jackets goalie Steve Mason has been ordered to undergo a psychological evaluation, an Ohio judge ruled Saturday.
During an appearance at Franklin County Municipal Court, Peter Stenzel, 52, pleaded not guilty to inducing panic and menacing.
Judge Carrie Glaeden set the bond for Stenzel at $50,000 US and Stenzel remained in custody after the hearing, according to the Columbus Dispatch.
Wearing a Flames T-shirt at the time, Stenzel was arrested at his Dublin, Ohio, home after three calls were made to Nationwide Arena in Columbus during the first intermission of the Blue Jackets-Flames game on Thursday. The caller threatened to "shoot" and "bomb" Mason.
The Flames were losing badly and went on to give up a 5-0 decision to the blue Jackets.
Security was beefed up at the arena — with officers stationed at every entrance and exit — however, players were not made aware of the threats until after the game.
