Toronto traded prospect Richard Petiot for Tampa Bay goalie Olaf Kolzig, defencemen Jamie Heward, Andy Rogers and a fourth-round pick.

It's essentially a salary dump for the Lightning, which unloaded around $3.7 million to clear cap space, and the Leafs get a draft pick for their trouble.

Kolzig had arm surgery back in February and was already out for the season before the deal. With the Leafs already picking up Martin Gerber on waivers for the season, it is more than likely that Kolzig won't see time in a Toronto uniform.

Heward's been out since Jan. 1, when he suffered a major concussion from a hit by Alex Ovechkin; he likely won't see time as a Leaf either.

Rogers, 22, has spent his entire career as a defenceman in the AHL. He has two assists and is a minus-15 so far this season for the Norfolk Admirals.

The Leafs give up an AHL defenceman of their own in Petiot. The 26-year-old has three goals, 11 assists, and is a minus-4 this year for the Toronto Marlies.
