The New York Rangers remained quiet until the very end.

Minutes after acquiring Nik Antropov from the Toronto Maple Leafs in the last hour before Wednesday's NHL trade deadline, the Rangers were at it again, acquiring stay-at-home defenceman Derek Morris from the Phoenix Coyotes.

"I didn't even know the Rangers had called about me until later, and I was ecstatic once I talked to them," he said to Jeff Marek of Hockey Night in Canada Radio. "I'm really happy to go there."

Going the other way are Nigel Dawes, Petr Prucha and Dmitri Kalinin.

Morris, 30, has 11 years of NHL action under his belt. He started his career back in 1997 as a Flame, and was part of the package that brought Chris Drury to Calgary in '02. He was dealt again from Colorado to Phoenix in '04, where he's spent the last five seasons.

To get the cap space, New York sent three players the other way at a combined $4.3 million (U.S) in salary.
