Wade Dubielewicz (34) re-signed Thursday with the Islanders. (Rich Schultz/Associated Press)With Rick DiPietro and Joey MacDonald injured, the New York Islanders filled the void Thursday by re-signing Wade Dubielewicz.
Contract terms were not disclosed.
Dubielewicz, who turns 30 on Jan. 30, spent four seasons as the Islanders backup goaltender before signing a deal with Ak Bars Kazan of the fledgling Russian Continental League (KHL) last July 28.
The Invermere, B.C., native is in the process of securing his official release to return to New York.
Dubielewicz joined the Islanders as a free agent on July 2, 2003, and posted a 16-13-1-1 record with a 2.55 goals-against average and .920 save percentage in 37 NHL games.
Until he is able to rejoin the Islanders, they will rely on former Montreal Canadiens prospect Yann Danis, promoted Tuesday from the AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
Danis, 27, from Lafontaine, Que., is 0-3 with a 4.53 GAA in four appearances for the Islanders this season.
