The Ottawa Senators recalled defenceman Brendan Bell ahead of Monday night's game against the New York Rangers.

Bell has six goals and nine assists in 15 games with Binghamton in the American Hockey League.

The defenceman, who played junior hockey with the Ottawa 67's, has played 48 NHL games with Toronto and Phoenix.

The Senators signed the 25-year-old in July and now have a use for him, as the blue line corps has displayed less mobility without Wade Redden and Andrej Meszaros around anymore.

Ottawa lost its fourth in a row on Saturday, 3-2 to the New York Islanders. The club has been outscored 12-4 during that span.

The Senators (6-9-2) are tied for second last in the Eastern Conference with Tampa Bay, both one point ahead of Florida.
