Columbus Blue Jackets forward Manny Malhotra was activated Tuesday from injured reserve, and earned one assist in a 4-2 victory over the Vancouver Canucks at Nationwide Arena.

Malhotra, 28, sat out the first five games of the season with an undisclosed lower-body injury suffered in the pre-season finale, a 5-4 shootout victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Oct. 5.

He posted 11 goals and 18 assists for 29 points in 71 games last season, and led Columbus with a 59 per cent success rate on faceoffs.

Malholtra is entering his NHL season, having been drafted seventh overall by the New York Rangers in 1998.

The Mississauga, Ont. native has totalled 65 goals and 163 points in 558 games over nine NHL seasons with the Rangers, Dallas Stars and Blue Jackets.
