St. Louis Blues backup goaltender Chris Mason is expected to be sidelined for two weeks after having an emergency appendectomy, the NHL club confirmed Friday.
Mason, 32, underwent surgery on Thursday night.
The native of Red Deer, Alta., has made one appearance this season — his first with the Blues — giving up four goals in a 5-2 loss to the New York Islanders on Oct. 11.
The Nashville Predators traded Mason to St. Louis in exchange for a fourth-round pick in this year's NHL draft.
In seven NHL seasons, Mason sports a 58-44-1 record with a 2.62 goals-against average.
