Hockey Canada will unveil Pat Quinn as its new world junior coach, according to a source.

The 65-year-old Quinn, who is expected to lead the national team into the upcoming world junior hockey championship, will be introduced at a media conference on Thursday.

The position has been open since Benoit Groulx stepped down two weeks ago to accept a position in the American Hockey League.

Quinn most recently coached the Canadian team that won gold at IIHF world under-18 championship in April.

Some of the players from that squad will be among those competing for a job on the world junior team.

Quinn has been involved with several national teams in the past, including the 2002 Olympic entry that won gold in Salt Lake City.
