Sections of a training facility being built for the Montreal Canadiens on the South Shore collapsed Monday afternoon after metal beams began falling.
The $30 million centre was being built in Brossard near Autoroute 10 and 30, just south of the Champlain bridge.
Half of the steel structure gave way around 1:30 p.m. ET, police said.
Four construction workers were sent to hospital to be treated for shock and sore backs but the injuries are not major, said Longueuil police spokesman Martin Simard.
"I was on the structure and I heard a noise and the entire middle part collapsed," construction worker Jean-Louis Tellier told Canadian Press.
"I was stuck on top so the crane came to get me but it couldn't reach me."
The safety harnesses the workers were wearing helped, said Michel Huguerot, a spokesman for the Longueuil fire department.
Engineers were on site, evaluating the structure and the Quebec workers' health and safety commission was also investigating.
The extent of the collapse is not immediately clear.
Last May, the Habs announced they were building their own training facility.
The sports complex will house two ice surfaces built to NHL specifications, and will be able to seat up to 800 spectators.
The Canadiens currently practise at the Montreal Bell Centre. They were due to move into the new centre in the fall.
