The Calgary Flames made a minor trade as the NHL's general managers meetings wrapped up Wednesday in Naples, Fla., acquiring defenceman Jim Vandermeer from the Philadelphia Flyers for a third-round draft pick in 2009.
The 27-year-old from Red Deer, Alta., has three goals, 15 assists and 71 penalty minutes in 54 games this season with Chicago and Philadelphia. In 246 career games — all with those two teams — he has 17 goals and 49 assists.

Vandermeer's best season was with the Blackhawks in 2005-06, when he set career highs in goals (six), assists (18) and penalty minutes (116).
Vandermeer is making $1.225 million this season, and is due to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
The deadline for NHL teams to complete trades is Feb. 26 at 3 p.m. ET.
