The Detroit Red Wings have signed goaltender Chris Osgood to a three-year contract extension, general manager Ken Holland said Wednesday.
Osgood, who was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1, is earning $800,000 US this year, but will earn $1.5 million a season under the new deal.

"Chris has a tremendous career record as an NHL goaltender and his performance this season places him as one of the top goalies in the game today," Holland said.
"He's been a big part of our success in every season he has been with the Wings and we're very happy to have him signed for an additional three seasons."
Osgood, a 35-year-old native of Peace River, Alta., leads all NHL goalies with a 1.68 goals-against average this season and is tied for the lead with a .932 save percentage.
He also sports a 19-2-1 record.
