The Toronto Maple Leafs may be struggling, but don't expect to see any coaching or management changes … yet.

Richard Peddie, the president of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, told the Canadian Press on Monday that head coach Paul Maurice and general manager John Ferguson's jobs were safe, despite media speculation to the contrary.

"We're trying not to be reactionary in this tough time," Peddie said after the Leafs dropped two lacklustre games over the weekend

"The fact is John is under contract and we want him and Paul focused on winning hockey games and turning around this situation."

The situation is a bleak one, or at least, it has been in spurts. Toronto sits tied for 14th in the Eastern Conference with an 8-11-5 record and the storied franchise has also allowed 86 goals against, the worst mark in the league.

"We're clearly disappointed in our start to the season," said Peddie. "It's not what we had envisioned. But we're monitoring the situation."
