The New Jersey Devils announced the signing of winger Arron Asham on Tuesday.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but it's believed Asham signed a one-year deal worth $700,000 US.
"Arron Asham is a veteran forward who brings a level of toughness, intensity, and feistiness to our lineup," Devils chief executive Lou Lamoriello said in a statement.
Asham, a 29-year-old native of Portage La Prairie, Man., scored 11 goals and added 12 assists in 80 games with the New York Islanders last season.
Originally taken with Montreal's third-round pick (71st overall) in the 1996 draft, Asham played four seasons with the Canadiens before being traded to New York in 2002.
In 421 career games with the Canadiens and Islanders, Asham has 58 goals and 125 points.
